{relationships} Fuu initially meets Mugen while she is serving tea at a teashop. Fuu accidently spills tea on the lord's son, and Mugen steps in and saves Fuu from loosing her hand as punishment. Later though, Fuu saves Mugen and Jin from execution from the feudal lord since this fight ended with the burning down of the teashop and the death of the son. Mugen is immensely rash and prideful, always eager to fight. Fuu doesn't allow him to fight with Jin, and often gets angry with Mugen when he runs off to fight someone else. Yet, while Mugen is gone, Fuu worries about him. When Mugen get injured during a battle which ends with a boat explosion, Fuu takes care of him. She is also quite angered by his womanizing. She says he shouldn't need another woman since he has her, though she doesn't mean it in a sexual way. Spoilers: Highlight to read. At the end of the show, Jin sends Mugen to save Fuu. We see a flashback to the previous episode where Fuu was thinking about the three separating and their journey coming to an end. Fuu cries and tells Jin, "Mugen is...Mugen is..." Then she says, "I'm sorry." So, what was Fuu going to say? Though the show never gives any concrete evidence towards Fuu having special feelings for Mugen, it is strongly implied. When Mugen comes to save Fuu, he gives up his sword, and himself, in place of her. After all of this time, Mugen finally gave something to Fuu, and it showed that he cared for her more than he admitted before.
[top? ] Fuu initially meets Jin while Mugen is fighting in her teashop. Jin and Mugen cause a fire during their sword fight that causes the teashop to burn to the ground. It's this even that makes Fuu break them out of jail, and make them accompany her on a journey to find the samurai who smell like sunflowers. Jin is the exact opposite of Mugen: quiet and traditional. He has had a hard life, and throughout their journey is hunted by those who want him to pay for his past actions. Spoilers: Highlight to read. Though I give a case for Fuu + Mugen above in Mugen's spoiler section, there is an equally strong case for Fuu + Jin in my opinion. Jin has shown an obvious connection with Fuu, and likewise from Fuu. Jin shows her much more respect than Mugen, and seems to really worry about her and be concerned. When Fuu runs away from the three during an episode with Sara, it's Jin who follows her to make sure she's ok. And yet, in the end, Jin comments that he had finally found "Comrads." In a way, I still don't think this statement means that he doesn't have special feelings for Fuu.
[top? ] Mo-mo is Fuu's pet flying squirrel. He lives inside of her kimono, often coming out whenever he smells sunflower seeds nearby. Mo-mo's name is short for Momonga, which is "flying squirrel" in Japanese (info from Wikipedia). [top? ] |
